Mamta Banerjee, the Chief Minister of Bengal, announced on Wednesday that her party will fight alone in the upcoming polls. She was an important part of the India Alliance, and after this, the opposition seems to be weakened.
Mamta Didi says no to alliance
Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Didi’s decision to fight alone in the 2024 polls is due to disappointment over seat sharing. Her declaration comes at a time when there is very little time left for the Lok Sabha polls. Mamata clearly emphasizes her importance in politics.
By making this decision, Mamta Didi has made it clear that Congress is dependent on her, and she is not dependent on Congress.
Mamta stated that her party is secular, and she will fight alone in Bengal against the BJP. “Allow the Congress to contest 300 seats independently. Regional parties, united, can handle the remaining seats. However, we will not tolerate any interference from them (Congress),” she emphasized.
Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee also expressed her disappointment at not being informed about the Congress-led Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra, scheduled to enter the state on Thursday. She mentioned that at the very least, they should have had the courtesy to inform her about this.
Shock for the INDIA Alliance
Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has started, and he will be in Bengal on Thursday. One day before Mamata’s decision has surely sent shockwaves through the India Alliance. For a few days, it has been observed that all is not well within the India Alliance.
In a news conference on Tuesday, Congress leader Adhir Chowdhury claimed that in the 2011 elections, Mamata Banerjee came to power with the mercy of the Congress party. He alleged Mamata Banerjee of being an opportunist and assured that Congress can fight alone.
However, Rahul Gandhi said on Tuesday that seat-sharing is underway and mentioned that Mamta is very close to the Congress party.
After that, Mamta announcement created a storm in politics. The opposition is weakening day by day. Earlier, Mayawati announced her separation from the alliance, and now with Mamta’s decision, the opposition is failing to create a strong image against the BJP.
