The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPRC) has issued a summons to the YouTube India official for allowing potentially indecent contents involving the mother and son.
The NCPCR sent an official notice to YouTube India officials on Jan 10. In which the YouTube India official, especially the Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy has been summoned to appear on the 15 January.
A letter sent to YouTube India’s Head of ‘Government Affairs and Public Policy’ Meera Chat, in which the NCPCR Chief Priyank Kanoongo mentioned their concern about a Challenge video which involves inappropriate behaviours between mothers and sons in YouTube. The Commission also added that these videos violate the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
Video Trend Background:
Usually some ‘Challenge’ videos are released and become viral on YouTube from time to time. A trend has been set in that direction as well. In this case, young mothers dance with their adolescent sons and make short videos which become viral on YouTube. But this became disgusting at one point when some people started making videos unlike mother-son love. Some mother-son duo posing sexually with Bollywood songs playing in the background. Such videos draw huge criticism now.
So the NCPCR took concern of this and warned YouTube India to take immediate action to ban those videos as it will have a negative impact on society. The Commission commented that promoting such videos and doing business is similar to doing a porn business and any site which publishes videos of children being sexually harassed should face legal consequences.
