UAE Cabinet Approves 10-year Blue Residence Visa for Environmental Advocates
In a significant move to promote a culture of sustainability, the UAE Cabinet has approved a 10-year Blue Residence visa for individuals who have made outstanding contributions to environmental protection. This announcement was made by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, following a Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Emphasizing the UAE’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability, the Prime Minister stated, “The sustainability of our economy is now intertwined with the sustainability of our environment, and our national directions in this area are clear and consistent.” He reiterated the nation’s resolve to protect the environment, adopt advanced international technologies, and improve its higher education systems.
What is the Blue Visa?
The UAE has launched the Blue Residency, a 10-year visa program aimed at environmental advocates who have made exceptional contributions to environmental protection. This initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to promoting sustainability on both a domestic and global scale.
Eligibility for the UAE 10-year Blue Visa
The Blue Visa will be granted to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and impact across various environmental sectors. Eligible individuals can apply for the Blue Visa through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP). Additionally, relevant authorities have the ability to nominate deserving candidates for this visa.
