Nvidia, one of the largest chip makers in the world, a tech mogul, played a crucial role in the development of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which used thousands of Nvidia GPUs and other technology from the company.
Nvidia’s CEO, time and again is making headlines for its advanced tech and now its commitment towards AI and its CEO, Jensen Huang, often always talked about how AI will shape the future.
Recently, the Nvidia CEO was in the limelight for claiming that everybody will be a programmer with AI in future and there will be no need to learn coding, implying AI will be able to code websites in the future.
Now, Huang is once again in the news for saying that in five years, AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is likely to be here, indicating doing tasks designed specifically for the human cognitive ability.
Nvidia CEO statements on AI
The Nvidia CEO recently said that artificial general intelligence (AGI) might be achievable in as little as five years, depending on how it’s defined.
Speaking at an economic forum at Stanford University, Jensen Huang explained that if AGI is defined as the ability to pass human tests, it could happen soon.
He expressed confidence that in five years, AI could excel in various tests presented by the computer science industry.
“If I gave an AI … every single test that you can possibly imagine, you make that list of tests and put it in front of the computer science industry, and I’m guessing in five years time, we’ll do well on every single one,” he said as per a Reuters report.”
Presently, AI can already pass some tests like legal bar exams but it struggles when it comes to handle specialised tests. Huang, however, added that the technology will be able to handle all exams within five years.
With that being said, Huang acknowledged that AGI might be further away based on different definitions, as scientists still grapple with understanding how human minds function.
He also talked about the difficulty for engineers to achieve this goal without clear definitions.
What is AGI?
AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) – it can be best described as a concept, where machines are able to understand the world as much as humans do and act on their own.
AGI can see images and other thai tradition AI currently doesn’t do.
Because of ChatGPT’s popularity, manu tech experts in the industry have come forward to talk about AGI.
While some believe that AGI could be dangerous and a threat to humanity (often fueling the dystopian outlook on AI), others see its benefits in various fields.
Satya Nadendlla the CEO of Google said – “So I am looking for the thing that may be even bigger than the industrial revolution, and really doing what the industrial revolution did for the West, for everyone in the world,”
