Huge conflict is going on between Kuki and Meitei communities in Moreh, Manipur. The state government has sent a letter seeking urgent help from the central government.
The clash between Meitei and Kuki ethnic groups has been going on for the past 10 months in the state of Manipur. The Kuki people allege that the government and the security forces are supporting the Meitei people.
In this situation, Kuki armed groups have been on the rise in Moreh for the past few days. Two Police Commando Officers Killed in the conflict between Kuki and Security Forces.
Conflict between Kukis & Security forces
A section of Kuki group has been carrying out armed attacks against the security forces like looting local police stations and illegally importing weapons from Myanmar. Also, Kukki women are blocking the road from Moreh to Imphal. Now Moreh city is completely cut off from Imphal. So it is very difficult to reach the people out there and the situation after the conflict is still not known.
Moreh, a town on the Myanmar border, has been witnessing more conflict in recent times. Thousands of Tamils people are living in this city. Because of this conflict Tamil people suffered in large numbers and many lost their livelihood.
Following this, the ruling BJP government in Manipur has sent an urgent letter to the central government. Therefore, it has been urged that the Central Government should immediately send Air Force helicopters to Moreh. Meanwhile, many parties including the Congress are putting pressure on the state BJP government to immediately put an end to the ongoing violence.
