ISRO has designed Xposat, a state-of-the-art satellite to gain a deeper understanding of astronomical phenomena.

Xposat countdown on Dec 31

This satellite is going to be launched by PSLVC-58 rocket from the launch pad in Sriharikota on January 1, New Year’s Day at 9.10 am. At present, scientists are carrying out activities, parts integration and test patching of rockets and satellites. The countdown to the final stages of the launch, including continued refueling, will begin tomorrow, December 31.

Xposat, the second satellite to be launched for space exploration, weighs 469 kg. Its lifespan is 5 years. It will be stationed at an altitude of about 650 km from the earth and the observations will be carried out. For this, 2 devices namely BOLEX (X-ray polarimeter) and EXPECT (X-ray spectroscopy) are equipped.

How will this probe benefit India?

This will probe a variety of features, including measuring the magnitude and angle of polarization of X-rays propagating through space, radiation from neutron stars, and black hole gas nebulae. Also, ISRO scientists said that the spectral and polarisation functions of X-ray sources can be studied simultaneously.

Apart from this, the final part of the PSLV rocket, the PS4 engine, is to be tested for the third time called Boem. Accordingly, 10 research instruments of Indian research institutes are to be sent in the PS4 machine It is noteworthy that after these satellites are positioned, they will crawl around the earth with the help of PS4 engine and carry out surveys for the next few months.
