Adding to the excitement, the makers shared a second poster, further fueling anticipation for a big announcement. Speculation swirled as fans eagerly awaited details about Bachchan’s character, with expectations soaring for a grand unveiling.
In a striking Instagram post, Bachchan expressed his awe at being part of the project, describing it as “an experience like no other.” He further states “The mind to think such a product, the execution the exposure to modern technology and above all the company of colleagues with stratospheric Super star presence ..” The poster featured Bachchan’s piercing gaze, face covered and killer eyes shrouded in mystery, intensifying curiosity about his role in the film.

Sunday brought the much-awaited revelation as the makers announced Bachchan’s portrayal of Ashwatthama, accompanied by a teaser promo aired on Star Sports. Draped in yellow attire, Bachchan is seen praying before a Shiva linga in a mysterious cave, introducing himself with the words, “Since ancient times, I have awaited the arrival of the Avatar. I am Guru Drona’s son. Ashwatthama.”
Director Nag Ashwin, speaking at the Synapse 2024 event, shed light on the film’s ambitious narrative arc, spanning from the Mahabharata era to the distant future of 2898 AD. With meticulous attention to detail, the team endeavored to create immersive worlds, blending Indian culture with futuristic aesthetics.
At the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, Nag said about the film’s name, “The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian, and not make it look like Blade Runner.”
“Kalki 2898 AD” boasts a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan. The film, slated for release on May 9, promises to transport audiences into a futuristic world while staying rooted in Indian ethos.
The makers released a new poster on Maha Shivaratri, where Prabhas’s character name was revealed to be Bhairava.
