Junaid Khan, the son of superstar Aamir Khan, embarks on his third film project even before his debut release. The romantic comedy, co-starring Khushi Kapoor, went on floors in Mumbai’s Mira Road on Sunday, according to a report by Mid-day.
Junaid Khan’s Third Project In The Industry
The film, an adaptation of the Tamil hit “Love Today,” marks Junaid’s third venture in the industry. Directed by Advait Chandan, known for “Secret Superstar” and “Laal Singh Chaddha,” the shooting commenced at the Seven Eleven Club, with plans to wrap up key outdoor scenes before the monsoon season hits. “Sunday was the first day of the shoot, but Junaid and Khushi started their portions only on Monday,” a source told Mid-day. “Since Junaid will be busy promoting Maharaj next month, the director started filming a few days earlier. Over the coming three weeks, Advait and his unit will shoot across Mumbai.”
The movie is produced by Aamir Khan, who is currently occupied with his film “Sitaare Zameen Par.” The cast also includes Genelia Deshmukh.
Junaid’s debut film “Maharaj,” a historical drama based on the 1862 Maharaja Libel Case, is set for a June 14 release on Netflix. Directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, known for “Hichki,” and produced by Yash Raj Films, “Maharaj” features an ensemble cast including Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari Wagh, and Shalini Pandey. The film has been eagerly anticipated since the first look was released in February.
“YRF and Aditya Chopra have immense confidence in the film’s content and believe that Netflix will help reach a global audience. Together with Netflix, they are preparing for a grand digital launch on June 14, 2024,” a source revealed to India Today. The trailer is expected to drop around June 5, initiating a nine-day countdown to the film’s premiere.
Meanwhile, Junaid has also completed shooting his second film, an untitled project co-starring Sai Pallavi. This film has been shot primarily in Japan, adding an international flavour to Junaid’s burgeoning career.
Junaid has been preparing for his acting debut for the past four years, undergoing rigorous training to establish himself in the industry. His multi-project engagement showcases his dedication and the industry’s confidence in his potential.
Aamir Khan’s involvement in his son’s career is evident. Besides producing Junaid’s current project with Khushi Kapoor, Aamir has been deeply involved in the pre-production phases and continues to support Junaid’s cinematic journey while managing his own film commitments.
As Junaid gears up for the release of “Maharaj,” his professional journey appears promising, with a diverse portfolio that includes historical dramas, international shoots, and light-hearted romantic comedies. This blend of genres not only highlights his versatility but also sets a solid foundation for his future in Bollywood.
