India is going to provide $75 million to Nepal for the reconstruction work to the areas which were affected by the earthquake last year. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said this on his visit to Nepal on 4 January.
Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar went to Nepal for a two day visit. Today he inaugurated the Tribhuvan University Central Library in the capital city Kathmandu which was built with the help of Indian funds. In that event he confirmed that India has decided to extend financial support of 75 million dollars to Nepal to reconstruct the affected areas of last year’s earthquake.

In November 2023, an earthquake occurred in Jajarkot district of Nepal. Which causes severe damage to Nepal and many lose their livelihood.
Many countries came forward to help themand Within 48 hours of the earthquake, the Indian government started providing emergency aid to the country. In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that India will provide all possible assistance.
India’s Financial assistance
Accordingly, India has decided to provide financial assistance of 1,000 crores, i.e. 75 million dollars, to Nepalese rupees for the reconstruction of infrastructure in the earthquake affected areas.
India has given 1 billion USD to Nepal government. Out of this, 250 million dollars has been given as a subsidy. The remaining 750 million dollars is loaned. India-Nepal relations have seen remarkable progress in various fields. This has further strengthened the bond between the people of the two countries.
