Afghanistan has been hit by three earthquakes which forced people to get shelter in the roads. The first two earthquakes within the time gap of half an hour. The vibrations were recorded as 4.4, 4.8 and 5.1 respectively on the Richter scale.
Consecutive earthquakes
The National Center for seismology confirmed that Afghanistan felt 3 consecutive earthquakes on 3 January. The first earthquake occurred on 12.55am at 126 km away from Faizabad city at a depth of 80km. The shake has recorded a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale. Following this, a second earthquake of magnitude 4.8 was reported on 12.55am at 100 km away from Faizabad city at a depth of 140 km. Due to this earthquake, the houses also shook and people came out of their houses and took shelter on the roads. No information about the damaged items has been released yet.
In this situation the third earthquake hit Afghanistan at 2.45pm at the depth of 29 km underground. The shake was recorded with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale. Due to this the normal life of the people has been greatly affected.
Earthquakes in 2023
Similarly on Last year (October) a powerful earthquake was felt in Herat province which is located in the western part of Afghanistan. That was recorded as 6.3 on the Richter scale. Following this, 8 consecutive earthquakes occurred which collapsed many areas in Afghanistan and 2060 people have died, 1240 were seriously injured and nearly 1320 people have been completely razed out of their house.
