The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, has nullified the UP Police Constable Recruitment Exam 2024 in response to accusations of paper leak.
With an overwhelming participation of over 48 lakh candidates, including approximately 16 lakh women, during the February 17 and 18 sessions, the exam is scheduled for a re-conduction within the span of six months. 
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath affirmed, “The integrity of examinations is non-negotiable. Those who manipulate the efforts of young individuals will face consequences without exception. Stringent measures will be enforced against such disruptors.”
Frustrations among Aspirants over the paper leak
Over 48 lakh aspirants, including approximately 16 lakh women, participated in the UP Police Recruitment Exam 2024, held on February 17 and 18. The exam was conducted across 2,385 centers spanning all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, with the objective of filling 60,244 positions in the UP police force.
Calls for a re-examination have grown among many candidates, alleging that the question paper had been circulating on various social media platforms prior to the exam commencement.
They have voiced apprehensions regarding irregularities in the establishment of exam centers, expressing dissatisfaction with the entirety of the examination procedure.
Opposition leaders, such as Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, have denounced the BJP government and urged for a CBI inquiry along with stringent measures against those deemed accountable.
Uttar Pradesh Govt action so far
An FIR has been filed by the Lucknow police concerning the paper leak incident. Aspirants are urging for a re-examination, asserting that the integrity of the exam was compromised due to the circulation of a question paper on social media platforms hours prior to the scheduled examination.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has established an internal committee tasked with investigating all allegations concerning paper leaks and the circulation of question papers and answer sheets on social media platforms.
Chairperson Renuka Mishra emphasized the paramount importance of maintaining transparency and upholding merit throughout the process. Additionally, the board has requested representations from aspirants who participated in the exam, accompanied by relevant evidence, by February 23, to facilitate further actions.
