BTS, (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon, and LE SSERAFIM’s Kim Chaewon and other singers have strongly denied unfounded drug rumors and announced their intention to take legal action.
This comes after actor Lee Sun Kyun and G-Dragon face drug charges; innocent celebrities have become victims of rumors as many continue to speculate on whether there are more idols getting implicated in these investigations.
This comes after it was reported last night that a female A-list Kpop idol and a famous other kpop idol are also said to be investigated for drug use. It has led to many netizens spreading rumors online about who those idols might be.
BTS’s agency, Big Hit Music, stated through multiple media outlets on the 26th of October, “BTS is not involved in the rumors and they are completely false.”
They also announced their strong response to the indiscriminate spread of rumors. Earlier that day, rumors about some BTS members being regular customers at a Gangnam entertainment establishment frequented by Lee Sun Kyun spread online.
Both Jeon Soyeon and Kim Chaewon’s sides also strongly denied the drug rumors. They stated, “It is baseless. We will take strong legal action against false information spreading posts.” Singer and composer Park Sun-joo’s side also denied the rumors, stating that they are baseless.
Meanwhile, on the 23rd of October, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s Narcotics Crime Investigation Division charged Lee Sun- Kyun with violations of the Narcotics Control Act related to marijuana and psychotropic substances.
Separately, G-Dragon was charged with violations of the Narcotics Control Act. The police announced on the 26th that they would consider a travel ban for the two individuals.
They also stated,“There are currently no other celebrities under investigation,” and “We cannot disclose specific details of the investigation.”
