Sunny Deol has officially confirmed that he will reprise his iconic role as Major Kuldip Singh from the 1997 blockbuster “Border” in the highly anticipated sequel, “Border 2.” The announcement, made on the 27th anniversary of the original film, has been met with tremendous excitement from fans and the film industry alike.

The Border sequel, directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, is being touted as “India’s biggest war film.” Deol made the announcement through an Instagram video featuring his voiceover, where he nostalgically referenced the promise made by his character 27 years ago. The video concluded with the iconic track “Sandese Aate Hain,” originally sung by Roopkumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam, evoking a strong sense of patriotism and nostalgia.
“Twenty-seven years ago, a soldier made a promise that he would return. To fulfill that promise, and to salute the soil of India, he is returning,” said Deol in the announcement video. The film will begin shooting in October 2024 and is scheduled for release on January 23, 2026. Ayushmann Khurrana is reportedly joining the cast, although his role has yet to be officially confirmed.
