According to reports, a soldier has passed away from wounds sustained following a gunfight with terrorists who infiltrated the Battal area of the Poonch district early on Tuesday.
Identification of the Deceased
The dead were identified as 7 Jat Regiment Lance Naik Subhash Chander. He lived in the Uttar Pradeshi hamlet of Nagla Mani in the Hathras district. “Lance Naik Subhash Chander, who was involved in an ambush on the LoC at the Battal area of Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district, sustained critical injuries during an exchange of fire during an infiltration bid,” authorities stated.
Early Morning Gunfight
Two terrorists made a suspicious movement about three in the morning. They came under fire from the military. But during the gunfight, Lance Naik Chander was critically hurt, they said. Only the information regarding stopping an attempt at infiltration and wounding a soldier had been passed on by the White Knight Corps.

“At 0300 hours (3 am), alert forces engaged infiltrating terrorists with effective fire, thus foiling their attempt at penetration. One courageous person has been hurt during the intense firefight. This morning, White Knight Corps announced on ‘X’ that operations are still ongoing.
Previous Attacks and Injuries
Terrorists wounded Kumar’s uncle Vijay Kumar and a soldier on Monday when they assaulted an army picket at Gundna Khawas and the home of village defense guard Parshotam Kumar. Terrorists assaulted the home of a village defense guard around 3:10 in the morning, according to a post on “X” by 16 Corps, stationed in Nagrota. The possibility of terrorist activity in the neighborhood has caused alarm in the wake of the incident.
Recent Security Meetings
The predawn attack on Monday occurred just a few days after Jammu and Kashmir Police, paramilitary groups, and intelligence agencies met jointly on Saturday to discuss the current security situation, led by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. The meeting took place at the police headquarters.
Doda District
The attack comes after a similar incident on Thursday in the Doda area that left two army troops injured after a battle with militants. Around two in the morning, militants opened fire on a makeshift camp at a government school in Jaddan Bata village. A soldier who was seriously hurt was airlifted to the Udhampur command hospital via helicopter.
Terror Attacks in Jammu
In another incident, late on Wednesday night, security personnel manning a forward station close to the Line of Control (LoC) in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district opened fire after noticing suspicious activity. According to police, a search conducted early on Thursday morning turned up no proof of the suspected behavior.
In over a dozen terror assaults across six districts of Jammu since the beginning of this year, 27 people—11 security officers, a village defense guard, and five terrorists—have died.
Tuesday’s shootout in the Doda area with highly armed terrorists claimed the lives of four army troops, including an officer.
The event came after a terrorist ambush in the Machedi forest belt of Kathua district one week prior, which left five troops dead and five injured.
