On 25 December, when the world celebrated Christmas, people in Gaza were still struggling for their life. Still, life is uncertain in Gaza. There seems no hope for Palestine.
In his Christmas speech, Pope Francis referred to the Palestinians in Gaza who are dying as the “little Jesus of today.” The Pope also spoke about Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel and urged the release of some 100 hostages.
Crisis due to war
War is going on between Israel and Palestine after the attack on Israel by Hamas. Many people have lost their lives in this bloody war. Every day comes with uncertainty.
The entire 2.3 million people living in Gaza are facing a hunger crisis, according to a U.N. assessment, and the likelihood of famine is rising daily.
Children are mostly affected by this ongoing war. Their survival becoming tough day by day. Getting a basic meal is a question there so to think about education and other stuff is impossible.
Thousands of people have lost their lives. Hospitals and children were also attacked. People are losing their hopes.
The world is going through a humanitarian crisis, and it seems impossible for the world leader to stop this.
Appeal to stop the war
Pope Francis said, “I demand an end to military operations and their horrifying harvest of innocent civilian casualties. I also call for an end to the dire humanitarian situation by opening the door to the provision of humanitarian aid.”
The Vatican, which has diplomatic relations with both Israel and the Palestinian authority, believes a two-state solution is the only answer to the long-running conflict.
Pope Francis said:” How can we even speak of peace, when arms production, sales, and trade are on the rise?”
The whole world is concerned for the damages caused due to war and there must be a peaceful way to end this war. Pope’s concern for the war and his message regarding this gives some hope to the affected people.
