The Shenbaz Sharif government that recently won in the 2024 elections now aims to save funds and encourage a more responsible approach to public finances and taxpayers money by eliminating the use of red carpets for official state events.
Prime Minister Sharif and his Cabinet members have also voluntarily decided to cut their salaries and perks, as part of the government’s commitment to promoting financial responsibility and savings because of the dire situation the nation is in due to the poor financial choices that it is in because of the to debt traps by its dear ally China

This initiative mirrors the actions of President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan, who had also opted out of receiving salary and benefits due to the economic challenges faced by the country, shocking move to the corrupt ministers whose only mission is to rack up money.
Sharif, who had recently assumed office for the second term and a brother of Nawaz Sharif who previously the PM of Pakistan, emphasised that his government is now planning to seek assistance from the IMF or the International Monetary Fund or additional support amidst the country’s economic and security challenges. This move also follows a staff-level agreement with the IMF regarding the disbursement of the final remaining sum of 1.1 billion US dollars that it needs to pay back.
