Popular K-drama Doona! premiered on Netflix on Friday, October 20, 2023, and it has definitely impressed fans.
The K-drama has 9 episodes and documents both Doo-na and Won-jun’s journey.
Moving away from home for the first time — paying bills, staying on top of classes, getting along with your housemates — is hard enough. But when your mysterious chain-smoking downstairs neighbor happens to be a major K-pop idol in hiding — one who either can’t stand you, wants to be your friend, or, possibly, is in love with you? — well, that takes things to another bewildering level. And in the new series Doona!, things are never quite what they seem.
Based on the popular Korean webtoon 이두나! (The Girl Downstairs), Doona! is directed by Lee Jung-hyo (Crash Landing on You). Baeksang Arts Awards Best New Actor winner Yang Se-jong (Temperature of Love) stars in the nine-episode series. Portraying the title character is Bae Suzy, who came to fame as part of the K-pop group Miss A before she turned to acting (she’s a two-time Baeksang Arts Awards winner for The Sound of a Flower and Architecture 101).
As this series comes to an end, answers to few of the fans questions are:
• Does Netflix’s “Doona!” have a happy ending?
No. it has a bittersweet ending where both Won Jun and Doona let go of each other and carry on to lead successful lives. They have meant a lot for each other in the past and have definitely influenced each other but were not meant to end up together.
• How does Netflix’s “Doona!” end?
It ends with both characters Won Jun and Doona leading fulfilling careers.
• Did Doona and Won-Joon end up together?
No, they do not end up together.
• Will Doona have season 2?
No, it does not. the ending clearly shows that the couple does not end up together. Added to that, neither Netflix or the production have ever commented or suggested the possibility of a 2nd season.
The screenwriter behind this drama is a new screenwriter who has no other credit to their name.
