Delhi, New: Social media users are furious about a disparaging remark made about Smriti Singh, the widow of Captain Anshuman Singh, the recipient of the Kirti Chakra, and are demanding that the person who said it take legal action. Additionally, the Delhi Police received a letter from the National Commission for Women (NCW) requesting prompt and appropriate action. The derogatory comment was made on a picture of Singh at Rashtrapati Bhavan when she accepted the honor on her husband’s behalf, the martyr. Captain Singh, a medical officer assigned to 26 Punjab, gave his life to save his comrades in an Indian Army camp deep under the Siachen glacier.
Legal Action Requested by NCW
The NCW cited specific legal provisions that the comment violates in a letter sent on Monday. These provisions include Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, which penalizes acts intended to insult a woman’s modesty, and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, which addresses the consequences of publishing or transmitting offensive material electronically. The letter describes the punishments under these regulations, emphasizing that first-time violators face fines and jail for up to three years, while repeat offenders face more severe penalties.
The NCW has requested that the individual be arrested as soon as possible and that the Delhi Police file a First Information Report (FIR) against him. In addition, the Commission has asked for a thorough action report to be provided within three days and has ordered a prompt and impartial inquiry into the situation.
“I wouldn’t die a normal death; I would die with brass on my chest.” These were the last words said by Smriti Singh, a grieving but proud Army Medical Corps captain who was awarded the Kirti Chakra for extraordinary courage after his death.
A Love That Endured Distance
The Ministry of Defense spokeswoman posted a video on social media in which Smriti reminisced about her spouse and how they fell in love. He had a great deal of ability. “I would die with brass on my chest,” he would tell me. “I wouldn’t pass away in a way that no one would ever know,” Smriti recalled. Indeed, the account of his demise is far from typical. In July of last year, Capt. Singh perished while attempting to save lives from a large fire.
The Ministry of Defense spokesperson’s video, which was broadcast on ‘X,’ has received a lot of shares on social media. Smriti was seen sobbing in the video as she revealed that their relationship started with “love at first sight” and that they eventually got married after eight years of dating over the phone.
We got together on our first day of college. It was love at first sight, not to be overly dramatic. A month later, he was accepted to the Armed Forces Medical College, or AFMC. He was accepted into a medical institution after we first met at an engineering college. really smart man. It was a long-distance romance for eight hard years after that, she recounted, having just met for a month.
Then we made the decision to tie the knot. Unfortunately, he was deployed to Siachen within two months after being married. We had a lengthy discussion on July 18 regarding our lives in fifty years. We have plans to construct a home, raise children, and other things. I awoke on the 19th morning of last year to receive a phone informing me that he had passed away,” Smriti remarked.
He is a hero
She claimed that even now, she still finds it difficult to accept the loss. We found it impossible to believe that anything of that nature had occurred during the first seven or eight hours. I’m not coping as of yet. Simply attempting to determine whether it could not be real
But now that I’m holding the Kirti Chakra, I see that it’s true. He is a hero, so it’s all OK. He has managed a great deal, so we can manage a bit of our lives. The happy wife remarked, “He sacrificed his life and family in order to save the other three army families.
