INSAT-3DS meteorological satellite will be launched next month by the GSLV-F14 rocket from Sriharikota.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is focusing on launching satellites for  communication, remote sensing and geo sensing satellites which are important for our country’s development through PSLV and GSLV rockets.  In this situation, global climate change is now becoming a major threat for the world. The effects of natural disasters such as storms, volcano erosion, earthquake, heavy rains and floods are increasing.satellite

India is also going through these disasters frequently and the need for building a strong geo sensing technology became necessary. Keeping this in mind, INSAT type satellites are being deployed by ISRO to monitor weather variations and help during calamities.

India’s geo sensing satellite

In that regard, ISRO has designed a meteorological satellite called Insat-3DS. It is expected to be launched in February by a Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle (GSLV)-F14 rocket from the Satish Dhawan launch pad in Sriharikota. The final tests in this regard were successfully carried out on the 27th January at the ISRO research center in Bengaluru. ISRO officially confirmed this in their X post after this successfull test INSAT 3DSredy to launch and it is flaged off to Sathish Dawan space center, Sriharikota.

INSAT-3DS, owned by the Indian Meteorological Department, has a total weight of 2,275 kg. It has 25 different instruments, including a 6-channel imager, all of which closely monitor the Earth’s climate and provide accurate real-time weather information. By this, natural calamities like storms and heavy rains can be known in advance and appropriate precautions can be taken. It is noteworthy that INSAT-3DS will be launched as a continuation of the INSAT-3D and INSAT-3TR satellites which are already in operation.
