The Apple iPad is the most popular tablet model ever released.
The recent models of the device are useful for almost everything and are capable of handling tasks that MacBooks can with ease, mainly the iPad Air and iPad Pro which are now equipped with M1, and M2 chips, the same ones used in the 13.6-inch MacBook Air, making them as competent as one of the most popular desktops and laptops in the world.
Here is the lineup:
- iPad Pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch (6th gen): Oct 2022
- iPad Pro 11-inch and 12.9-inch (5th gen): Apr 2021

We are now looking for the new iPad Pro in probably early April via a press release on Apple.com.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in March that the new iPad Pro would launch within weeks, which now looks to be in April. The latest report from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg says the iPad Pro will ship in May.
Expected Features:
Apple OLED screen?
The current screens that are used are LED (on the 11-inch model) and mini-LED (on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro) and will be replaced by an OLED screen on both models.
A thinner iPad
A 9to5Mac report in February 2024 said that the new iPad Pro will be thinner as the OLED screen saves much space taken by the LED. This is apparently a result of Apple’s switch to OLED for the screen, which will shave some millimetres off the thickness of the iPad.
The new dimensions are said to be as follows;
- 11-inch iPad Pro (2024): 249.7 mm x 177.5 mm x 5.1 mm
- 11-inch iPad Pro (2022): 247.6 mm x 178.5 mm x 5.9 mm
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2024): 281.5 mm x 215.5 mm x 5.0 mm
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2022): 280.6 mm x 214.9 mm x 6.4 mm
Also regarding a design of the iPad Pro front camera system, a code snippet in the iOS 17.4 beta suggests that Apple will move the camera from portrait to landscape orientation like it has with the standard iPad.
