Kareena Kapoor Khan is in legal trouble due to the title of her book released in 2021 having the word ‘Bible’ in it. A petition in the Madhya Pradesh High Court has stirred controversy around the Bollywood actress’s book on pregnancy, titled “Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible.”
People find the word ‘Bible’ in the title offensive and their sentiments are hurt as the Bible is the holy book of the Christians.
Kareena Kapoor Khan issued notice by the MP High Court
The Madhya Pradesh High Court has taken cognizance of the matter following a petition by advocate Christopher Anthony, who seeks the registration of a criminal case against Kareena for using the word ‘Bible’ in the book’s title. The court has issued notices to Kareena and the book’s sellers.
Anthony contends that the inclusion of the word “bible” in the book’s title offends the Christian community, as the Bible holds sacred significance. He alleges that Kareena used the term for “cheap publicity” for her book, which was released in August 2021.
Initially, Anthony lodged a complaint with a local police station, which was declined. Subsequently, his plea to register a case against Kareena was dismissed by both a magistrate court and an additional sessions court. The next hearing of the case is slated for July 1, where Kareena is expected to respond to the court’s notice and address the concerns raised by the petitioner.
While Kareena’s book aims to provide guidance to expectant mothers based on her own pregnancy journey, the controversy surrounding its title has sparked debate and drawn attention to the sensitivities associated with religious symbols.
The legal notice to Kareena Kapoor Khan is a testament to the importance of respecting religious sentiments in public discourse and highlights the need for sensitivity in choosing titles for creative works.
The book, “Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible: The ultimate manual for moms-to-be,” chronicles Kareena’s pregnancy journey and offers tips for expectant mothers. Despite the controversy, Kareena’s book continues to be available for sale.
