In this situation, a powerful series of earthquakes hit Japan yesterday at 4.10pm Japan local time centered around Ishikawa and Niigata prefectures.
The maximum magnitude of the earthquake was 7.6 on the Richter scale. Buildings shook due to these earthquakes. There were also cracks. Large cracks were found on the roads. Underground gas pipelines ruptured in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture. As a result, the gas escaped and caught fire. More than 30,000 homes were plunged into darkness due to power cuts
Tsunami warning for Japan:
Following this earthquake a tsunami warning was issued in Japan. The Japan Geological Survey warned that tsunami waves up to 5 meters high could hit. Coastal residents were advised to evacuate to safe places immediately.
A few hours after the tsunami warning was issued, the tsunami wave hit due to the subsequent earthquake. This caused a great shock across the country. Following this, the Indian Embassy in Japan opened an emergency control room. Indians in Japan have also been advised to follow the instructions of the Japanese government.
Following this, Prime Minister Bumio Kishida ordered the immediate evacuation of people living in coastal areas from Hokkaido Island to Kyushu Island. Within minutes of the warning, a 1.2 meter tsunami hit the western coast of Japan. At many places, sea water entered the town, causing great commotion in those areas.
