Palestinian health officials confirmed that around hundreds of people have been killed in a crash at an overpopulated area of Gaza hospital. The cause of the blast is yet to be unconfirmed, though Palestinian authorities are blaming Israel and Israel blaming Palestinian militant groups in a counterfitting reply.

The Defense Forces of Israel said it recaptured control over the border with the Gaza Strip by the early morning of Tuesday, which is three days after Hamas militants crashed through a barrier and launched an invasion that saw over 1,000 Israelis killed or kidnapped. At least 14 Americans are among the dead, U.S. officials said.

Israeli Lt. Col. Richard Hecht said the bodies of 1,500 militants were found around southern Israel. Another 900 people have been killed and 4,500 injured in Israeli strikes in Gaza, Hamas health officials said.

“There is no safe place in Gaza right now. You see decent people being killed every day,” Hasan Jabar said after three fellow journalists were killed in the ferocious bombardment.

Tensions are high with the prospect of ground war and evacuation orders for Gaza after the Israel Defense Forces called for “all residents of Gaza City to evacuate their homes” and “move south for their protection” early Friday, saying residents should move “and settle in the area south of the Gaza River.” The announcement was made, according to the IDF, because it plans to “operate significantly in Gaza City in the coming days” and wanted “to avoid harming civilians.”

The disaster immediately raised the stakes for Mr. Biden, who is expected to arrive on Wednesday in Israel on a trip to meet with regional leaders in an attempt to de-escalate the crisis. He was scheduled to continue on to Amman to meet with the leaders of Jordan and Egypt, as well as Mr. Abbas, but that meeting was called off late Tuesday.
