Mariam Karthika Daniel, Vice President of Google Maps Experiences said that Google Maps has more than six crore active users in India alone and they are the main contributors to their Maps platform.
Most of the people now depend ons Google Maps when visiting a new place. Google Maps can even recognize streets without addresses if you share the location. To that extent this application is very popular and user friendly all over the world. It is reported that more than 5 crore places are added to Google Maps in India every day in various languages. Its distance is said to be about 2.5 billion kilometers.
New features in Maps
In this situation, five new features have been introduced in Google Maps such as Lens, Live View, Address Descriptor, Where is My Train App, Fuel Economy Route. It is said that this feature will gradually be available to users from January 2024.
Vice president Maryam also added that users are providing various information in real time. The details like star ratings, photos, address and road verification, road closure updates and Indian users are the leading contributors to the Map globally.
It is very interesting to know that Maps is highly dependent on AI technology.
