The Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress have decided to face the Lok Sabha election 2024 together in the capital and both parties have agreed to divide the total constituencies in the ratio of 4:3. With this, the division of seats between Aam Aadmi Party and Congress parties has been completed. Also in Gujarat, Haryana, Goa and Chandigarh both the parties have shared the constituencies.
State wise seat sharing
In Delhi, out of 7 Lok Sabha constituencies, Aam Aadmi Party led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is contesting in 4 constituencies in South Delhi, West Delhi, East Delhi and New Delhi. The Congress agreed to contest in the remaining three constituencies namely Chandni Chowk, North West Delhi and North East Delhi. It is noteworthy that BJP had won all the Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi in the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
Gujarat has totally 26 Lok sabha constituencies. From this AAP is going to contest in two constituencies namely Baruch and Bhavnagar. The remaining 24 constituencies are allotted to Congress.
In Haryana, there are 10 Lok Sabha seats, out of which AAP is going to contest in one constituency called Kurushetra. Congress is going to contest in the remaining 9 constituencies.
Goa totally has 2 Lok Sabha seats and Congress is going to contest in the both constituencies. Earlier, AAP announced their candidate for Goa, now the party said that the candidate will be withdrawn.
The tow parties don’t share anything about seat sharing in Punjab because AAP formed government in Punjab by dislodging Congress in 2022. So it is expected that the two parties will contest separately in Punjab. The one seat in Chandigarh is allotted to congress.
Positive move for INDIA alliance
The seat sharing talks between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress have been going on for the past few days and now the talks have ended. The block sharing agreement in 4 states is seen as the positive move for INDIA alliance.
