Kashmiri activist Yana Mir calls out the fake narrative against Kashmir and fiercely advocates for India’s standpoint against propaganda, winning the hearts of every Indian with the way she presents India’s point of view.
Yana Mir fights against propaganda
Yana Mir is a Kashmiri activist, political analyst, TEDx speaker, and journalist. In her statement at the Sankalp Divas hosted by the UK Parliament in London, she said, “I am not Malala. I am safe in my country, in my homeland of Kashmir.” She further added, “I will never flee from my homeland and seek refuge in your country. I will never ever be Malala Yusufzai.”
She took a dig at Malala for defaming India by suggesting that Kashmiris are oppressed here. She also condemned foreign media and social media toolkits for defaming India. She proudly calls India progressive and urges everyone to stop polarizing Indians on the grounds of religion. She warned Pakistan and foreign media to stop unwanted selective outrage against India.
Mir’s speech has won the hearts of every Indian, as she has now become the voice of India, answering all those who continuously attack India on the Kashmir issue.
Malala Yousafzai’s controversial remark
Earlier, Malala, through a series of tweets, revealed that some Kashmiris had reached out to her and shared their stories. Yousafzai then sought help from the United Nations General Assembly to ‘work towards peace in Kashmir’ and help children get back to school. Her statements, deemed hypocritical by Indians, received backlash for being more of a ‘Pakistani agenda’ that did not care about other countries where Muslims face atrocities. This included tweets from sports personalities, celebrities, and political figures.
Pakistan and foreign media often attack India on the matter of Kashmir, but every time, Indians respond to them gracefully. Now, Kashmiri youth are coming out and telling the world that no one can defame India while sitting in their own country and passing judgments without knowing the actual conditions. We can fight back against the defamation of our country, India.
